What to Pack

Before your baby arrives, we would love to meet you and answer any questions you may have about our practice. New and expectant parents are encouraged to schedule a tour of our facility during which time you will meet with one of our providers who will share more about the care your little one will receive and what to expect in terms of care after your baby is born.

Delivery Day

We are honored that you have chosen White’s Pediatrics to care for your newborn. When you arrive at the hospital, you will be asked to specify a pediatrician for your child. If you deliver at one of the following three hospitals where our pediatricians round in the newborn nurseries, we will visit you and your newborn baby within the first 24 hours of life.

We are affiliated with the following hospitals:

Hamilton Medical Center (Dalton, GA)
AdventHealth Murray (Chatsworth, GA)
AdventHealth Gordon (Calhoun, GA)

First Check-Up

In accordance with the recommendations of the American Academy of Pediatrics, your baby’s first checkup should be within 2 to 3 days after you arrive home from the hospital.

This visit is often the most reassuring for parents, as we will evaluate feeding progress, hydration and management of expected weight loss.

Circumcision

Circumcision is the procedure of removing the foreskin, a sheath of skin that covers the head (glans), of the penis. The decision whether or not to have your newborn boy circumcised is a personal choice that may involve religious and/or cultural considerations.

If you request a circumcision on your newborn boy, our providers will perform the procedure in the hospital before you are discharged. If you prefer to have your baby circumcised after discharge, we can perform this procedure at our Dalton or Chatsworth location within the first four (4) weeks of life.

Please let us know at any time if you would like more information about the benefits or potential risks associated with this procedure.

Insurance

For newborns, you have up to thirty (30) days to enroll your child under your health insurance policy. Please make sure your insurance carrier knows the name of your selected pediatrician at White’s Pediatrics.

If you have a question about your insurance and whether we are contracted, please call our Billing Office at (706) 876-2130. We also encourage you to contact your insurance provider.
